WHO WE ARE

At VBM we specialize in the gathering and processing of landfill gas (LFG)

We work closely with landfill owners to treat landfill gas collected from public and privately owned landfill sites, before distributing natural gas into the US pipeline system. We install collection and processing facilities at the landfill site, ensuring the gas can be collected, processed, and sold – all at no cost to the landfill owner.

With a strong background in the landfill, oil, and gas industries, we bring a wealth of experience in methane collection and processing. Today, we are working closely with landfill owners across the United States.

Our services

Methane is a powerful greenhouse gas, far more potent than carbon dioxide

In addition to curbing emissions and eliminating odor, our facilities provide landfill owners with significant royalty payments from selling the previously redundant and polluting by-product of their waste disposal sites, methane gas.

We work with site owners to produce a renewable energy source that will mitigate climate change, while simultaneously allowing local communities to reap the benefits of sustainable solutions.

From job creation through the construction and operation of gas collection and processing plants, to the reduction of air pollution by off-setting the use of non-renewable resources, turning landfill gas into clean natural gas offers an abundance of economic and environmental benefits to communities across the US.

“LFG processing plants have many similarities to traditional midstream oil & gas processing plants, utilizing well-established technology that has been adapted for LFG processing.”

Working with us

Historically, landfill gas was removed via flaring, venting, or as feedstock for electrical generation

Today, with the introduction of Renewable Identification Numbers (RINs), developers and landfill owners are rewarded for turning landfill gas into natural clean gas by constructing plants to process (upgrade) the gas so that it can be injected into natural gas pipelines, creating renewable natural gas to replace geologic natural gas from oil & gas wells.

Typically, we contract with landfill owners to build, operate and own a processing plant, paying royalties to the landfill’s owner in return for a 30-year lease on the gas rights. These plants – which are less complicated than typical oilfield treatment facilities – have a small physical footprint and leverage landfill gas collection systems required by the EPA to manage landfill waste gas.
